Separation and divorce are among life's most difficult and painful experiences.  For over 25 years, Chapelgate Church has ministered to adults and children going through the heartbreak of separation and divorce by providing a safe place of understanding and help designed to provide hope and a new direction for people's lives.

Rebuilders is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life's most difficult experiences.  It is important to get the help and encouragement of others as you attempt to heal and restore balance to your life.  Don't go through separation or divorce alone.

Rebuilders is a ministry of encouragement, information and sharing that meets weekly on Monday evenings for 10 week sessions several times during the year.  We cover a specific topic each evening through a live presentation and small group discussion. Topics include issues such as "Moving Through Grief", "Dealing With Anger", "Facing My Depression", "Loneliness", and "Rebuilding Your Life", and "Forgiveness".

We do require that you sign up before the next session begins.  You can sign up now for our February session by clicking on the registration button below or by calling the church at 410.442.5800, ext. 165 and ask for Pam or Rich.

Group for Teens

Divorce Recovery for Teens is a 10 week program for teens age 13-18 that runs concurrently with the adult Rebuilder's group.  It is designed to encourage and empower teens to deal with their feelings, fears and emotions while experiencing the divorce of separation of their parents.

From one of our teenage participants......

Rebuilders for Teens is possibly one of the greatest things I have ever found, tucked deep away in the confines of a church building. When I first arrived, I had no idea what to expect.  My first thoughts were somewhere along the lines of, "Oh god I can't believe I'm being forced to be here."

That opinion changed within the first week. The smiles and friendly attitudes I received from the leaders, when they didn't even know me, were a big plus the first day.

During the weeks coming to the group, I learned quite a lot from all the kids around me.  We all have the similar problem but come from many different backgrounds which provided a whole new perspective on my thinking.

I used to think I was alone in all the divorce and pain I was going though, but I wasn't.   Rebuilders for Teens was a very open and caring group that made sure we got all our emotions out in a very loving environment where everyone could feel safe and share their stories in a way where there is no pressure and no parents to tell you to be quiet.

Overall the lessons I learned from this group will stay with me for the rest of my life because it really showed me how to love both parents even when I don't feel like it.  I went from not having any sort of contact with my own mother for nine months, to going out with her almost every week by the end of the session. I'm not saying this drastic change will happen to everyone the first time around but the seeds of love, forgiveness, and graciousness will be sown in you if you just give the group a try.
