Communications Coordinator

Position Overview:

The Communications Coordinator oversees and executes Chapelgate’s overall communications strategy across digital, print, and in-person platforms. This role is responsible for helping communicate the life, vision, ministries, and mission of the church in a clear, engaging, and Gospel-centered way.

The Communications Coordinator works closely with pastors, ministry leaders, staff, volunteers, and outside creatives to develop content, branding, media, and communication systems that support the church body and reach the broader community.

The ideal candidate is spiritually mature, highly creative, organized, flexible, and relational. This person should possess a strong work ethic, a collaborative spirit, and a passion for helping communicate the mission and ministry of the local church effectively.

  • This is a part-time, non-exempt, hourly position with on-site and remote work options available.  This position will average about 20 hours per week and would be expected to be onsite Sunday mornings, Wednesdays and some evenings and weekends, as needed with flexibility of working hours outside those times.  The hourly rate range is $23.00/hr - $28.00/hr.

    Part-time employees earn 1 hour of Sick and Safe leave for every 30 hours they work up to 40 hours per year. This position also includes a 10% tuition discount for enrolled children at Chapelgate Christian Academy.

    • A growing and mature relationship with Jesus Christ and a desire to serve the local church

    • A degree in marketing or communications or similar field, preferred

    • Experience in marketing or communications

    • Excellent verbal, written, visual and interpersonal communications skills

    • Strong organizational and project management abilities

    • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

    • Strong creative problem-solving skills and adaptability

    • Proficiency with Apple devices and Adobe Creative Suite, including:

      • Photoshop

      • Illustrator

      • InDesign

      • Lightroom

    • Experience with After Effects and Premiere Pro is a plus

    • Familiarity with social media strategy, trends, analytics and platform best practices

    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

    • Ability to receive feedback and adapt in a collaborative ministry environment

  • Digital Communications & Content Strategy

    • Manage and maintain Chapelgate’s primary communication platforms, including:

      • Website

      • Church App

      • Email communications

      • Social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)

    • Implement and maintain the church-wide communications/content calendar

    • Create and schedule engaging, timely, and relevant digital content

    • Monitor and respond appropriately to social media interactions and inquiries

    • Ensure website and app content remains current and accurate

    • Explore and implement effective digital outreach and paid advertising strategies for major events and initiatives (Christmas Eve, Easter, VBS etc)

    Creative Direction & Media Design

    • Design and produce graphics, promotional materials, sermon series branding, logos, signage, slides, and print materials when needed

    • Develop creative campaigns that connect the congregation and community to the current sermon series

    • Collaborate with artists, photographers, videographers, and other creatives as needed.

    • Create or oversee visual branding consistency across church ministries and platforms

    • Assist with the creation and production of seasonal resources such as Advent and Lent devotionals, including layout, editing, print coordination, and digital accessibility

    Storytelling & Ministry Promotion

    • Capture and communicate stories from the life of the church through photography, video, testimonies, interviews, and written content

    • Coordinate with ministry leaders to highlight events, ministries, and member stories

    • Work alongside staff and ministry leaders to gather and produce testimony videos and other storytelling content

    • Attend church events and Sunday services regularly to capture content and maintain awareness of church life

    • Gather content to make recap videos of big church events to show on Sunday mornings

    Ministry Support & Internal Communications

    • Support ministry leaders with communication strategy, social media presence, email communication, and promotional needs

    • Create printed and digital materials for church ministries and events when needed

    • Coordinate Sunday announcement systems, including announcement slides and distribution of information to appropriate teams

    • Maintain strong communication and collaboration with church staff, ministry leaders, volunteers, and front desk personnel

    • Attend regular staff meetings

    Team Development

    • Recruit, train, and lead volunteers who assist with photography, videography, social media, and content collection

    • Develop systems that improve communication workflows and efficiency across ministries
