“The purpose of Crowded Table is to connect young families within our ministry with each other and with us.
The idea of “crowded table” comes from a song by The Highwomen. The chorus of the song says, “I want a house with a crowded table and a place by the fire for everyone. Let us take on the world while we’re young and able and bring us back together when the day is done.”
This song has been a sweet picture for Joy and I as we worked with RUF. Having students over to our house was a really joyful part of our ministry. The noise of students talking and laughing was always so great. We want to build this type of community with you all, not just when you are at our house, but when you are at each other’s houses. We want to build community that is founded on Jesus and gives opportunity for many to come and be a part of each other’s lives. The crowded table dinners are just the first step in trying to build this community to a greater degree here at Chapelgate.”

How does it work?
On the sign-up form are dates from now until the end of October. Each date has the location of the dinner next to it. These dinners are either hosted at the Beans’ home or at a restaurant that is decided on by guests. If the dinners are at the Beans’ home, there will be opportunities for you to participate in the meal (bring drinks, dessert, etc). If the dinners are out, you will be responsible for the cost of your own meal. Each dinner has a slot for about 8 people.

Who’s considered a “Young Family”?
Not every family looks the same, and that’s great! Here’s some clarification-
A young married couple with no kids
Parents with kid(s) from birth-5th grade
Single parents with kid(s) from birth-5th grade
